- Our Mission The mission of Accion San Diego is to create economic opportunity for primarily low-to-moderate income business owners who lack access to traditional sources of credit. Through business loans and support services, we strengthen the roots of emerging entrepreneurs and help them to thrive in their communities, creating social and economic change. Our History Launched in May of 1994, Accion San Diego is a member of the Accion U.S. Network, the largest nationwide nonprofit micro- and small business lending network in the United States. Globally, Accion is a pioneer in microfinance, reaching millions of individuals through its international network of partners. Building upon the experience of Accion International, Accion San Diego developed a successful lending methodology in 1994 tailored to local micro-entrepreneurs in Southern California’s neighborhoods. With economic opportunity, these entrepreneurs can build assets and better provide for their families and communities.
